Dear Intercessors,
We live in a world that loves the easy way out. Laziness and doing just enough to get by is so common. Employees often show faithfulness only when the boss is looking. When the boss is around everyone does their best work. But they do not realize that God is always watching in all the unseen moments.
He wants us to be faithful in all that we do for Him. He watches us. He sees. He knows. He especially loves faithfulness in prayer. He sees when you pray. He knows the sacrifice you make when you give up your time for Him.
Faithfulness emphasizes diligence. God wants us to be faithful in prayer even during times of difficulty, mundaneness, and temptation to be too busy. He wants us to be consistent in prayer for years. This is my 40th year as a Christian, and I feel like I’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg in all that is available in knowing Christ. There’s so much more for each one of us! But it will take faithfulness and diligence. I find in my own life that if I have a determined, consistent, disciplined lifestyle in seeking God, that He helps me to be faithful. When I block off hours to be in His presence, He works out the details in my life.
Are we willing to serve God in prayer even when we have to deny our own personal agenda and comfort? A story of a bus driver displays the importance of faithfulness.
A child named Billy went to a Vacation Bible School, after being invited by some other children. He went to the same church for Sunday School week after week for 400 Sundays. Each week the bus driver faithfully picked him up. He never committed his life to Christ until his senior year in High School 400 Sundays later. What if the bus driver had given up? What if he said, “Why waste my time? This kid is going nowhere.”
He was faithful and look what happened. He was faithful to the end, and Billy accepted Christ into His life.
Greatness in God’s Eyes
A prayerful life is one of greatness and success in God’s eyes. When we pray and wait upon God, He helps realign our lives to greatness and success on his terms. He shows us what is really important.
It’s not about how big our ministries are here on earth. It’s all about the size of our heart. We must understand God’s point of view in how He sees greatness. It is the size of our heart – how we love and serve Him, how we pray. We stand before the eyes of God. He rewards us for our diligence and faithfulness in our service, great or small.
A man toured Calcutta with Mother Teresa and visited the “House of Dying” where sick children spent their last days and where the poor would line up by the hundreds to receive medical attention. As he watched Mother Teresa minister to the poor people by feeding and nursing them, he was overwhelmed by the unbelievable magnitude of suffering she and her co-workers had to face daily. He asked, “How can you bear the load without being crushed by it”. Mother Teresa answered, “I am not called to be successful, I am called to be faithful.” She was an example of faithfulness to the end.
May we heartily serve God in prayer and in every other area of our life until our very last day here on earth. Let’s be like the postage stamp. Although they are getting more expensive, they stick to one thing until they get there. Let’s be persistent in prayer until we see the answer.
He is Faithful to the End
Is God not a faithful God? Is He not always faithful to each one of us personally? He is faithful to the end. He is coming again. He is faithful to our heart. May we be the same towards Him in our devotion, in our prayers and in our worship. May we be wholeheartedly faithful to the end.
